Sangu River, which is a river in Myanmar and Bangladesh. Its source is in the North Arakan Peaks of Myanmar, situated at 21°13´N 92°37´E. The Arakan Peaks form the border between Arakan and the Chittagong Peak Territories. It trails a northerly circuitous sequence in the peak territories and then arrives Bangladesh near Remarki, Thanchi Upazila, Bandarban District, from the east.
It streams north through Thanchi, Rowangchhari and Bandarban Sadar Upazilas of Bandarban District. It then streams west through Satkania and Banshkhali Upazilas in Chittagong District and courses into the Bay of Bengal near Chittagong, at 22°6´N 91°51´E, or about 16.09 kilometres (10.00 mi) south of the mouth of the Karnafuli River. The length of the river is 270 kilometres (170 mi); 173 kilometres (107 mi) are situated within Bangladesh.
The major tributary of the Sangu is the Dolukhal, which drains the Satkania plain. The Chand Khali flowing through the Patiya steppes also connections it on its right-bank. Further down, it is combined by the Kumira Khali and ultimately waterfalls into the Kutubdia Channel. The Sangu is, therefore, a very significant river in so far as it sanitations off the waters of three significant upazilas ‘ patiya, satkania and banshkhali. The key branches of the river are the Chand Khali Nadi and Dolukhal.
Depending on the condition of the road, buses to Ruma Bazar may dismiss at Khokhongjiri (two hours from Bandarban). If this transpires, just clamber down to the river past a cluster of tea stalls and small restaurants. At the riverbank, you can either catch a timber ferryboat, which is known as ‘service boat’, upstream to Ruma Bazar, or downstream back to Bandarban.
In the winter season the current of the river almost becomes motionless but in the drizzly season the current becomes destructive. Tourists must be appealed with the beautification sprinkled on the both sides of it. You can find here hills, forests, falls with a river composed. All the way you will be excited only and it is simply amazing.
